Learn how to add depth, dimension and a luminous quality to your watercolor painting in this
2-day workshop. You will be challenged to shift your perspective and concentrate on the
surrounding negative space, rather than the subject itself. In this workshop we will focus on
painting trees, leaves and flowers, but the technique can be used to paint many more subjects
and types of paintings.

Note: This class has been created for South Bay Watercolor Society Members - non-members may sign-up, but you are encouraged to join the SBSW by emailing their membership director at parrishh@verizon.net

About Carmen Daugherty
Carmen Daugherty is an avid watercolorist and urban sketcher. Since she retired from teaching
elementary school students (first graders for 21 years!), she has been able to devote most of
her time to her daily art practice. When she is not outside plein air sketching with friends, she is
in her studio painting florals in watercolor or sketching in her sketchbook journal.
Carmen's plein air paintings have been juried into the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association and
her watercolor florals have won awards at Mid-Valley Arts League and South Bay Watercolor
Society.
She enjoys walking, Pilates, studying Italian, and traveling. Carmen lives in Seal Beach,
California with her husband Jerry.
