Learn to paint rocks in a wet environment. Waterfalls, streams, and our California coastline offer up many opportunities to paint rocks with moving water. Discover tricks to paint rocks with volume and texture and how to show water’s transparency, foam, and spray.

Day 1- Paint rocks below the water surface in a streambed. Learn various techniques for "fixing" rocks below the water so they don't move when you paint the water over them. Try out some new techniques. Learn to simplify and not paint every single rock in a rocky streambed. Create depth and distance in your painting through value and color.

Day 2- Paint rocks beside the ocean with waves moving over and around them. Learn techniques for showing transparency as water moves over the rocks and onto the beach. Observe and identify how water moves over and around rocks on a beach. Paint realistic rocks with texture and volume. Learn techniques for painting foam and spray.
