About Lynn Mikami
Lynn’s family, along with other Japanese Americans, was forced to leave their home and was imprisoned for three years without charge or trial during World War II. She was born in the Heart Mountain Relocation Camp, Wyoming in 1944. A body of her work, an ongoing series over time, is her expression and interpretation of the feelings and experiences of her family and fellow internees. Barbed wire, a symbol often found in her work, serves to remind her of her roots and the fragility of the freedoms we enjoy.

She currently resides in Southern California where she attended both UCLA and USC. Lynn is inspired by nature, myth and the varied cultures of the world. Creating art is like air, essential to her well-being. Her current work includes experimental mixed media, collage, assemblage, encaustic, batik and fused glass. Her works express ideas, opinions or feelings that lift us beyond the ordinary, that expand our perception in some way to touch, connect and enrich our lives.

She is a member of and served on the board of the Society of Layerists in Multi Media and has shown her work at both National and Regional Exhibitions. She has shown both individually and with groups
