The Art of Reflection: Glass, Metal, and Other Shiny Surfaces in Soft Pastel

Day 1 focuses on demonstrations and guided exercises designed to help you understand reflections, transparency, highlights, color shifts, and value relationships. You’ll practice techniques for rendering glass and shiny objects by creating a series of small vignette studies to build confidence.

Day 2 is dedicated to developing a few of your own compositions in pastels by continuing to use the skills learned on Day 1. Work from still lifes provided, your own reference photo or a provided image while receiving individual instruction and feedback.

Suitable for all skill levels, this workshop will strengthen your observational skills and help you create convincing reflective surfaces in your pastel artwork.

About Dori Dewberry
Dori has been exploring the process of creating pastel paintings for nearly 23 years. Her lifelong exploration and education into the creative process has been a natural transition to teaching art to young students as well as adults. She does experimenting with new materials, techniques, applications, and sharing her knowledge. Having an open dialogue with her students on their art journey is one of the things she loves best.
