This class introduces a simplified oil painting process built around a strong value-based underpainting. By establishing structure and clarity first, the rest of the painting becomes more intentional and manageable. We’ll begin with my step-by-step underpainting method, then explore color theory, picture-making concepts, and essential oil techniques designed to demystify the medium and support consistent success. Students will complete one painting from my reference before working from their own images or additional materials I provide. Handouts and selected surface-prep materials are included.
