Studies can be used as an integral part in creating any successful pastel landscape painting. Joe uses studies as part of his process to create ideas for a composition which helps refine his vision for a painting. He also believes small studies are not only a means of creating larger works, but stand on their own as important works of art. Join Joe as he demonstrates his process by creating a small study to then develop a larger painting in pastel.
Joe will be working on and recommends either UArt or Ampersand Pastelbord. Beginning in either 5x7 or 6x8 for the study and moving to an 11x14 or 12x16. Artists may bring and use their own photos or use photos that will be provided.
