This is a process approach to drawing that emphasizes play, scribbles and messiness!
Come and explore mixed media mark making!
We will be using simple materials like gel pens, markers, pencils, charcoal, crayons and water brushes.
With playful prompts from the instructor that will allow you to get a sense of making your own marks and
discover that the way you draw a mark or layer your marks will allow you to find a visual language that is unique
to you. Each participant will go home with their own concertina sketch book filled with their own experiences and
experimentations from the day. Lunch and good conversation follows the art project!

KimKelly Ryan
I have been exploring the process of creating mixed media drawing for nearly my entire life.
I love to work and play in my sketchbook daily and am rarely without it.
I love the way making a line or layering a mark allows me to feel alive and connected to the
world in me and around me. I take delight in trying new materials and techniques and enjoy sharing
that knowledge with students so that they can explore the possibilities I believe art making creates.
