Art Journaling is the creation of a sketchbook or journal full of creative exploration, personal investigation, and artistic record keeping. Perfect for beginners as well as experienced artists, art journaling provides both a creative practice space as well as a low-pressure outlet for externalizing what we might otherwise keep inside.
In this first installment of "Elements of Art Journaling - Collage Ephemera Bonanza!" students will start out the new year by creating an exciting variety of collage ephemera for use throughout the year. For this workshop, I've added an extra hour and a half to give us more time to play so that we have plenty to bring home at the end! Planned techniques include mark-making, loose watercolor, fussy-cutting, and everyone's favorite: GELLI PRINTING!! This is a very ability-inclusive process and there will be lots of room for following your own instincts.
The focus will be on working outside of our art journals for this workshop, but journals will still be provided for those who are new to the process. All materials will be provided, but if you would like to bring your own gel plate and paper, paint colors, etc., feel free. I have attached a general mixed media kit materials list if you are interested, but this workshop will be a bit different, so it is just for your information and future use. You can arrive empty handed and be just fine!
